Categorizing Exam Results: t-distribution

Abstract

A population of large output data often follows a  continuously  natural  distribution. It is often possible to sample a smaller data and to predict the population parameters.  In this study the distribution of student results were found to follow normal distribution from an earlier study. In this study the population is divided into smaller groups of less than 30 and used t-distribution. The data was segregated and analyzed Excel . The t statistic obtained can be further used for Hypothesis tests for distribution range of true population mean or similarity of means. In this study the error estimate, E, is evaluated for each category is obtained. It was found that girls performed better than boys  in the exam, in all categories. Also, there was no significant difference in performance of the four sections evaluated.
